Why Do Pump Outs Matter?

Why Do Pump-Outs Matter?

Regular pump-outs are an important part of maintaining your septic system and helping to extend its service life.

When sludge & scum levels build up they will inhibit the process of breaking down the solids within a system.
Overtime the system will become inefficient in the processing of household waste and may cause smells, blockages, premature failures of water pumps and blowers, block filters and irrigation. Removing excessive sludge helps return the system to appropriate operating conditions, but it can also uncover internal deterioration that have developed over time

In other words, a pump-out doesn’t create these issues - it can reveal wear and deterioration that has been developing for years.

When Was Your Last Pump Out?

Many property owners aren’t sure when their system was last pumped out.

As a general guide, most domestic septic systems require a pump-out every 5 to 7 years, although this can vary depending on household size, water usage and the type of system installed.

If our technician recommends a pump-out, it is based on the sludge levels measured during your service and the condition of your system.
